Sha'ul reveals the Jewishness of this text in a Jewish b'rakhah or benediction (see 2Cor.1:3-7; 1Petr.1:3-4). This is signaled by the first words, “Praised/Blessed be Adonai, Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah”, as seen in the beginning of the Amidah, or Standing Prayer (Shemoné-'Esré). Central to the synagogue liturgical service, the Amidah is recited three times daily in stating, “Praised be You, Adonai, our God and the God of our fathers, God of Avraham, God of Yitzchak and God of Ya'akov¨.
